1-800-Save-A-Pet.com is a non-profit service, free to you & the public, that lets people search & see photos of your animals for adoption by breed, age, size, color & gender. We not only can be searched by people on the internet (we come up at the top of Yahoo & many other major search engines), but we are a toll-free 800 phone service staffed 7 days/week by live adoption counselors to take calls & refer people to your organization.
I want to contact you & make sure we have the correct contact info for your organization & encourage you to list some of your animals on our site. We have banner ads on many of the
internet's busiest sites, including Ticketmaster.com & others, as well as billboards & bus shelter ads going up in cities around the country. You can go right now to www.Yahoo.com, www.AOL.com, www.AltaVista.com & www.Lycos.com & search for terms such as "dog adoption", "cat adoption", "adopt a pet" & even terms like "Husky rescue", "Chihuahua rescue", etc. & you'll see we come up at the top. Each wk we get hundreds of adoption calls & tens of thousands
of people running searches on our site & we want these people to see your animals!
If you're already listing your animals on another internet site (either your own site or a third party site such as Petfinder, Petshelter.net, etc.), we encourage you to continue to do so. The more exposure for your animals the better. But you should definitely
list on 1-800-Save-A-Pet.com as well because of our advertising, our toll-free 800 number & the fact that our site is extremely easy to navigate. Some organizations have reported a doubling of adoptions
when listing their animals on 1-800-Save-A-Pet.com.
Please check that the info we have listed for you is accurate & complete by going to http://www.1-800-Save-A-Pet.com/shelter & logging in with your email address & the password "animal". You can then edit your shelter profile & change any info you desire. But by far the best thing you can do to drastically increase traffic to your website & adoptions of
your animals is to upload specific animals w/their photos & info onto our site. This will make it many times more likely people will find you, contact you & visit your website. You don't have to upload all
your animals on 1-800-Save-A-Pet.com, but the more animals you show, the more people will find your animals in their searches & contact you.
There is no cost to you. We're a non-profit organization funded entirely by private donations & corporate sponsors. Every penny & every ounce of energy we have is devoted to increasing your adoption
rate! All we ask of you in return is 3 things:
1) You must be a legitimate shelter/foster/rescue organization & NOT be a breeder or other business selling animals bred for profit. Your animals must be spayed/neutered prior to adoption, or you must
provide info & strong encouragement to adopters to do so on their own. (We strongly advocate spaying/neutering prior to final adoption).
2) If possible, we ask you to place a link to www.1-800-Save-A-Pet.com somewhere on your site. We'll be sending many people to your site & it will greatly help both our sites if we have links to each
other.
3) Please keep your animal listings as current as possible so we don't disappoint people by showing animals that are no longer available. As I'm sure you already do, please do your best to return phone calls & emails from the public in a timely manner & as I'm sure you already are please be polite to people who contact you even if you decide you're not going to adopt to them. If people have a good experience with 1-800-Save-A-Pet.com & your organization they'll recommend it to their friends!
