Ask Meteorologists to Announce Care for Pets
To My Fellow Animal Advocates living outside New York State:
In NYS, we are starting a campaign to encourage weathermen/women to
speak up for cats and dogs who are suffering terribly in the heat;
the alert that is being circulated is below.
Maybe you (or someone else you know) would like to start a similar
effort in your city & state. To get started, just ask an organization
like The Fund for Animals to provide you with a contact list for the
meteorologists at your city and state's news stations. (Obviously,
you can also ask for contact info for national meteorologists like
the ones on Good Morning America & CNN too.) Then, add the contact
info to the alert below and blast your activist lists!

________
THE ALERT:
Hi Everybody,
With it being so hot, I thought it would be a good idea to contact as
many weathermen/women as we can to ask them to kindly encourage their
viewers to either bring their animals inside or to make sure they
enough shade outside, in addition to having fresh water at all times.
I've asked various weathermen/women to tag a ten-second sentence onto
the end of each of their segments (perhaps as a segment sign-off?)
with something simple like:
"And, folks, when it's this hot outside, it's important to either
bring your cats and dogs inside or to make sure they have enough
shade at all times while outside. Remember too, it's essential they
*always* have fresh water. And NEVER leave them in a parked car, even
for a minute! Like us, cats and dogs can suffer from heat exhaustion,
so it's important to take care of them."
__________
I hope others want to do this!!

helpful)
