The purpose of the Do Not Adopt list is to share information on
careless, violent and otherwise irresponsible guardians of companion
animals so that domestic animals of any species who are in need of
homes will not be placed in situations where their health, well-being
or lives may be in jeopardy.

Reasons for reporting someone to the Do Not Adopt list include, but
are not limited to:

* People who will declaw their cats;
* People who will allow their cats to roam freely outdoors;
* People who will not spay/neuter;
* People who intend to breed their animals;
* People who have had their animals killed (true euthanasia is acceptable);
* People who lie on adoption applications;
* People who cannot afford adequate vet care
* People who will give up their animals because they are relocating, having a baby, etc.;
* People who have been convicted of animal cruelty;
* People who will keep their dogs outdoors 24/7;
* People who refuse a home check or refuse to pay an adoption fee;
etc.

List membership is open to animal rescuers and animal rights/welfare groups. Occasional discussion is allowed but should be kept to a minimum.
Any discussion that does take place will be limited to the topic of
DNA's.

List owners reserve the right to ban excessively disruptive, abusive or argumentative subscribers. This list is not an open democracy - it operates at the discretion of the list owners.

DNA announcements should apply to the Northeastern United States, but can be about people from any part of the country.
