Humane Education: Lessons in Good Character and Kindness to Animals

NAHEE Publishes Second Book of Lessons in Good Character and Kindness to Animals

The National Association for Humane and Environmental Education
(NAHEE), youth education division of The Humane Society of the United
States, has released “Critters with Character” Lesson Plans (grades 5 &
6). The book is the second in a series designed to help animal care
and control professionals enrich their youth education programs and
classroom presentations.

Each “Critters with Character” book includes 30 lessons in responsible
pet care, respect for wildlife, and safety around dogs. The lessons
cover major concepts in character education-the teaching of basic
principles of right and wrong-and academic skills, making them
especially useful in working with schools.
