Here's the story, I'll tell you why -
Animals weren't born to cry.

All God's creatures are gonna die,
But a dead fur coat ain't the reason why.

Don't catch legs in jaws of steel!
Don't you know their pain is real?

We don't need that kind of fashion.
Real folks got to have compassion!

Deep inside your heart you know it -
If you want to wear a fur, then grow it!

No more legs caught in the snap
Of the brutal bloody leghold trap!

Now I've got you in the mood -
Here's another thing that's crude.

Take a look at what you eat...
Do you call dead bodies "meat"?

Do you still eat murdered creatures?
Is death what your menu features?

Apples, oranges, foods so nice,
Nuts and raisins, beans and rice,

There's so much variety.
No beast has to die for me!

Good for body, good for mind,
Good for animals, every kind.

Slaughterhouses are so brutal;
Creatures' cries for help are futile.

You can hear them if you try.
Your taste buds are why they die.

Take the vegetarian vow.
Hurry! They are dying now!

What about the factory farm?
Don't you know it brings you harm?

Veal calves suffer horribly;
Battery hens just want to be free.

Drugs and hormones all get pumped -
On your dishes they are dumped -

In your body putrefied -
Flesh is harmful. Nutritionists lied

When they told you meat was healthy.
It just makes big business wealthy.

Here's another ugly story
All about the laboratory.

Come on now and rap with me
About that atrocity.

Tortured victims aren't the answer;
Change life style to wipe out cancer!

Data that's extrapolated
So humans can be medicated

Give results that don't hold water.
Yet we still allow the slaughter

Of the victim in the cage,
Filled with helpless pain and rage.

Agony and suffering,
Scientists don't hear a thing!

All the disembowlment
Paid for by our government.

Yes - we all know that the fact is
This is paid for with our taxes!

Test the safety of face cream,
Never mind how much they scream.

Must they hurt for such an urgent
Product as a new detergent?

Vivisection is a crime!
Make them stop! Now's the time!

Don't make animals live in hell!
They feel fear and pain as well.

Come on people, sing with me -
All the animals got to be free!

Every place I look, it's true
Animals in pain for you -

Circuses and rodeo,
Even at the picture show,

In their cages, in the stable,
Stalked by hunters, on the table,

Displaced by developers,
Hearts removed with calipers,

Thought of just as fur and feather,
Tools of research, meat and leather,

Only when they reach extinction
Do we make a small distinction -

Then we breed them in a zoo -
Our grandkids must see them too.

The only time we make a fuss
Is when they are of use to us.

Now we're getting near the end,
And I hope you heard, my friend,

Animals don't have a voice,
Animals don't have a choice.

There is nothing they can do -
Animals depend on you!
