Hunters are a cause of deer/car collisions, and hunters increased deer herd
News: More deer, more road deaths
A study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety confirms that
hunters are one of the causes for deer/car collisions. The report
states, "Accidents are most likely to happen in November, the
institute said, because hunters are out and deer are in the middle
of their mating season, both of which cause the animals to be on the

Also of interest, the Coalition To Abolish Sports Hunting (CASH)
reports that hunters increase the deer herd. CASH reports, "The Union
County (NJ) Parks Department report titled 'Deer Management Program
For Watchung Reservation' concluded that before being hunted, female
deer living in the Reservation gave birth to only one fawn.
Afterwards, the birthrate doubled or tripled.
