ACE standards speak for themselves. Facilities utilizing these standards will automatically be recognized as Animal Centers of Excellence.

The ACE program has also been designed in order to afford animal welfare agencies; law enforcement officials; city; state, and federal regulatory agencies a clear means of recognizing an Animal Center of Excellence and what standards should be utilized in city, state and federal laws.

The ACE program will act as a guide through which funding entities will be encouraged to support legitimate animal sanctuaries.

ACE will only accredit sanctuaries that comply with all ACE policies.

ACE is a three step program, animal care facilities will be evaluated by a three-level point system.

There is no charge to submit an application to join ACE, and there are no ACE fees/dues for membership of approved facilities. However, before a facility can be approved for full accreditation, the facility must be visited by ACE representatives. The facility requesting final inspection will be required to cover the cost of travel and lodgings [all efforts will be made to keep these expenses to a minimum].

Level 1: Facilities in the beginning stages

Level 2: Facilities that are established that need to implement minor improvements

Level 3: Facilities that meet all ACE requirements

In order for facilities to become accredited and to qualify for the ACE benefits described in its mission statement, facilities must provide the following:

Level 1 & Level 2

Facilities must have two veterinarians' sign and submit a completed checklist indicating every area that needs upgrading. [Checklist will be provided by ACE]

Level 3

Before facilities can be approved for full accreditation, ACE representatives, must inspect them. The facility requesting final inspection will be required to cover the cost of travel and lodgings.
