Homes for Unconventional Companions
From time to time, NJARA receives calls regarding animals who are not dogs or cats. Occasionally, animals such as chickens, rabbits, geese, ducks, goats, sheep, pigs, etc. are in need of loving homes.
They have been...
....the goats who were abandoned in a field
....the goose who was shot with an arrow
....the four chickens who fell off a truck on the NJ Turnpike on their way to slaughter, but were saved and placed with loving caretakers
We are maintaining a list of possible homes for these animals, for future reference. It doesn't need to be a recognized sanctuary, but perhaps someone you know who has a large yard space for outdoor animals in a barn/rural setting. Or maybe you know of someone who already takes in the occasional non-dog-or-cat animal.
Please contact Amy at NJARA at amy@nj-ara.org with any more possibilities for this new resource list, and provide some hope for the unconventional companion!
